Be The One Who Change The World!

I am been reading Froen In Time for nearly 2 weeks. This book is written by Mark Kurlansky. He is the New York Times bestselling author, and he lives in New York City. This book is about Birdseye who invent frozen food. I have read 5 chapters of this book. The most interesting thing is the relationship between ideas and movements.

He is successful. Because his courage and ideas. He is not like others. He wants adventure, and he thinks that world needs more ideas in his time period. In my opinion, I think we should learn from him. We should always have both ideas and the courage to make them true.

The truth is that we do not even have our own ideas. We are different form robots because we have our own independent thought. In the book, Birdseye always has his own opinion, and he always try to do things in a new way, so he can invent frozen food. If he did not have that idea, we wouldn't have frozen food, which means that we cannot have cold soda easily in the summer. Every single idea may change the whole world so much, so everyone should think deeper and comprehensive. I was studying in China 1 year ago. To be honest, it was a tough time. I don't have to much time to think about anything except test and homework. Personal opinion was a stranger for me, because the only reading materials I had in school were school book. The only thing I did was that I copyed down what teacher said. I did not have much opportunity to ask a question. I am glade I am here now at Cheshire Academy. Now, I can ask questions; I can study what I am interested in; I can have so many informations from different place. I learn more, see more, and know more, and all of those things make me to think more independently and thoughtfully.

However, I cannot only have opinions without any movement. For example, Birdseye has a lot of ideas, and he does not stop working. He learns so many things about how to take care foxes, because he did not know before, and he had to take care of foxes for business. He is not the kind of person who has only ideas but doesn't want to work for it. It is not easy for everyone to make their dreams true. However we still need to work for it. I consider that everyone needs to do something that make you think it worth to life. This world always has so many people with huge dreams, however not everyone of them can make dreams true. We always have a obstruction called laziness. Nothing is easy to do. Making dreams true even harder. We should never give up. Birdseye faces to so many problems, and he solves every single one. We should be the one who chage the world not the one who is changed by the world. I would do what he did.

Bad Ending is Not Always Bad!

I had read the Pobby and Dingan, and I had watched the movie. I think the movie try to tell us all things in the book, however the movie cannot tell us whole things. So there are some difference between the movie and book. I consider that there is a most important difference between them. It is that in the movie the ending is more like a happy ending, however in the book the ending is a little bit sad. I prefer the book because bad ending is always for a better future.

Let's talke about the book first. In the book, after they hold the funeral for Pobby and Dingan, they do not get the opal back. Another thing is that they hold a funeral for Kellyanne in few weeks after Pobby and Dingan's funeral. It is like they lose so many things, like a complete family, opal, and money. Ashmol and his parents are so missing Kellyanne, however they cannot bring her back forever. So they keep Kellyanne in their dream, like what they do to the opal.

In the movie, the owner of the cemetery gives the opal back to Ashmol, and there is no funeral for Kellyanne. So I consider that they get opal(money) and Kellyanne(a complete family). It is a happy ending, and I believer that most people prefer the happy ending.

If I saw the movie first, I believe I would like this movie. However i saw the book first, so I prefer the book. I like book more because happy ending cannot always make people remember what is important. For example, if everything is good in thebook, the dad would never know family is more important than opal; the mom would never know family and love are much better than the life in England; Ashmol would never know family is the best place for him. I want to say that bad ending is not always make you sad, and it is always for a better future.

We should always stand up for the truth!

“She is a witch! She is a witch! ……” Bertolt Brecht’s Galileo was over. I saw this play last night at The Black Box Theater. The play is amazing, and all actors are hard working. To be honest I cannot understand all of he play, however I definitely learned something from the play, and I want to talk about two of them. I think those two things would help a lot. Let’s see what are they.

The first, I consider that we should have the courage to againt the authority. In the play, this stoy is happened at the time period when religion was higher than science. However Galileo found something new, and those things are againsting the Bible. Everyone did not believe him besides his one student. Finally they puted him in the jail, so he had to give all his notes to his student. As we can see he dare to say the truth even though it would against the authority. I think we should all learn this courage. In our real life espicaily in China, most of students do not have their own thoughts. They always copy from the book; do what teacher ask them to do with out thinking; just follow rules. All of those things is killing Chinese progess. If everone just copy and fellow rules, what is the difference between us and robots? I suggest that everone should say out the different ideas of everthing, and be independent. We cannot get better and better without innovation. Every scientist did not know if they would lead a revolution before they finish one.

Second one, we should define every truth by our own experiene. As we all see, in the play everone think the bible is the truth. However they do not test it. Everone believed that earth was the center of the universe, however Galileo found out sun is the center.  I remember Galileo tries to tell them that you should trust your own feeling by throwing a stone in the ground and he says that nothing is drouped. Things like those happen everyday. For example, my friend tells that it is cold outside. When I go out, I feel so warm, however I already bring my coat withme. I believe things like cold and warm happen in everyone’s life. I consider that we should always test before we define something as the truth, and this will help us to know what the real truth is. Then we can help everyone around us. I believe if we do the test every time we will make a big change in our life. Suspect the thing before you trust it.

At last, I want to say thank you to everyone who work hard for this play, and I hope everyone can find the truth and say it out. Even though we will have so many troubles and problems when we tell others our thoughts, we still need to say and never give up, just like Galileo.

A great person!

He was a German Marxist poet, playwright, and theatre director. He was born in 10 February 1898 Augsburg, Bavaria, German Empire, and he died in 14 August 1956 East Berlin, East Germany. He had a lot of good work. For example, Life of Galileo, and The Good Person of Szechwan. He had two wifes and 4 kids. He remained a lifelong committed Marxist who. Brecht thought that the experience of a climactic catharsis of emotion left an audience complacent. Instead, he wanted his audiences to adopt a critical perspective in order to recognise social injustice and exploitation and to be moved to go forth from the theatre and effect change in the world outside. He also change a lot of things in the theatre. He created Verfremdung seffekt, and he put the German, Chinese, and Japanese theatre together. He got reward from his country in 1951, and he get a peace reward in 1955. Verfremdung seffekt is a way for actor to act a character, which said actor should keep distance with character, and they should higher than the character and act it. There were some people did not like him, so they tried to stop built the museum of him. I hope I can watch one of his theatre!

The play of Galileo!

Life of Galileo is a play by the twentieth-century German dramatist Bertolt Brecht with incidental music by Hanns Eisler. The first version of this play was written between 1938 and 1939. The English version opened at the Coronet Theatre in Los Angeles on 30 July 1947. It was directed by Joseph Losey and Brecht, with musical direction by Serga Hovey and set-design by Robert Davison. This play is about Galileo. He is short of money, and one of his student tells him a special thing the telescope. Then he replicates it, however it is sold to the Venetian as his own creation. He uses it to find so many new things, however he gets in troubles. The play stays generally faithful to Galileo's science and timeline thereof, however it talks his personal free life. Galileo did in fact use a telescope, observe the moons of Jupiter, advocate for the heliocentric model, observe sun spots, investigate buoyancy, and write on physics, and did visit the Vatican twice to defend his work, the second time being made to recant his views, and being confined to house arrest thereafter. There was also a interesting thing between he and his daughter. I am looking forward to see the play.

Most beautiful things is not always what you thought!

I consider that opal is the dream. When we always can get what we want, we won't have anymore impetus. If they didn't go to the Australia, the story wouldn't happen. Dream doesn't need to be true. Absences of the opal dream changed all Ashmol's family and the town. At the end of this book, Ashmol's family finally came together. They all realized that there is something more important than finding the opal, going back to hometown, or finding a own place. In our real life, we always have a lot of dreams but we do not need to make them true. The absences of those dreams will make us always full of energy. We would work hard for them, and we will find some thing hide under them. For example, " I had reckoned on buying a new house and getting my mum an air ticket for a holiday in England, and all kinds of other stuff, with the money from that opal."(Rice 58) Those things are what Ashmol's dreams, however none of them became true at the end. We still can see he, all his family, and people in the town felt happy and relax at the end. I consider that dreams won't always lead you to get what you want, but it will give some surprises.

A dream like opal!

I had read 11 chapters of Pobby and Dingan, and I had found some interesting things in this book. First of all, I think this book tells us a story about the dream. The father has an opal dream and the Ashmol's sister has two imaginary friend called Pobby and Dingan. I am going to talk about two topics that I am interested in. One is what is the real dream? Another one is what is the relationship between the opal and the imaginary friends?

What is the real dream? As we all know this family is really poor. "kellyanne opened the car door and crawled into my bedroom." (Rice 6) From this sentence, we can know that they live in a car. They are too poor to buy a house. "I had reckoned on buying a new house and getting my mum an air ticket for a holiday in England, and all kinds of other stuff, with the money from that opal." (Rice 58)I can feel his desire to have a new house and kinds of stuff. I think the real dream for him is that he can live in a new house, and the dream for mum is that she wants to go back to England where she is from. "Ashmol, I sensed it today! Tomorrow we’ll be on opal, son, and we’ll be bloody millionaires! I can feel those bewdies sitting there in the drives, staring back at me. Checking me out. Waiting. They’re red-on-blacks, Ashmol, I’ll bet you anything! There’s rumours going that Lucky Jes has taken out a million-dollar stone and a fossilized mammoth tooth with sun-flash in it. We’re close, boy. Close. There’s definitely something in that earth with the name Williamson on it!" In this speech, we can see how much the father wants to find the opal. At start, the father might just want to be rich, however he starts loving opal, so the only thing he believes is that he can find opal and become bloody rich one day. For the father real dream is becoming rich by finding opal. "What d’you bloody expect when you drag your family to a place like Lightning Ridge? What d’you bloody expect to happen when you bring up an intelligent girl like Kellyanne in a place full of holes and criminals and freaks?" We can see the anger in the mum's speech, and we know they are in a little ridge full of holes, criminals, and freaks. So the sister cannot make some good friend in here, so she has two imaginary friends. The only dream the sister has is that she wants some great friends who can listen to her, play with her, and take care of her.

What is the relationship between the opal and the imaginary friends? In my opinion they are the same. "Me and him never took Pobby and Dingan seriously one bit." (Rice 8) As we can see, father did not really care about Pobby and Dingan at start. However he changed. "One time he even took Kellyanne, Pobby and Dingan out to the Bore Baths in the ute. When I ran out to join them with my towel around my shoulders, my dad shouted:" Sorry, son. Can't take you today, Ashmol. Not enough room with Pobby and Dingan in here."" (Rice 11) The father started to see Pobby and Dingan as real, just like he wants the opal. I consider that father realized his daughter and him is the same. Both of them have a dream that no one else can see or feel. He started to support her with the imaginary friends, and he wanted the mother to support his opal dream, like she supported Kellyanne's imaginary friends. I do not think those dreams are stupid or impossible. I have some dreams like those. For example, I want to become the president. I know that is huge and ridiculous, howeve at least I have a dream, and I am doing hard for this. It is much better than someone who  has no dream and is wasting their life.

For getting better!!!

Today is the end of this marking period. I have been studying in this class for nearly two mouthes. In the past two mouthes, I have done some of my goal. For example, I have done all my homeworks, and I have gone to all my calsses. However, I still have many things to improve. For intense, I did not work well in my quizes and tests. So, I think that I need to do more review on my test, and I need to go for more extra help to get a better grade on my quizes and tests.

2. What meaning is the grandmother showing?

Hard work

1. I think it means skin is good like a protector. It will heal you when you get hurts. For example, "heals over the scarred place, makes a road"

2. In my opinion skin is symbol for some persons who are helpful, kind, and warm. For example, doctors, nurses, friends, and parents. Those people will heal your scarred both on your body and in you heart.

4. I think this line means when you love someone, you live not only for yourself but also for the person who you love. "Breath" is the thing we do for living. In my opinion "countries" are not real countries. They are more like the world in everyone's head. So I think this line means that when we love someone, we would live in each other's "world" so we take care and live with each other.

A person who is knowledgeable but cannot read

I think she is a really kind person, because in the first stanza we can see that she helps goats to born a baby. She is helpful. As we can see, she always bake for others. She believes god so much, because she said that Allah is everywhere. As we know Allah is the god in the Islamic culture. She cannot read, however I still think she is nice person. She does not need to read, the only thing she should know is that how to live better in a small village. In fact she lives pretty well, and she even helps others.

A side of Arab you never see before: From a Arab author who lives in America

She choose 19 Varieties of Gazelle because she wants to tell us by using her own culture. I think that she wants to show us Arab people are kind and friendly. She is Arab, and she lived in America. So she has some special emotion and feeling about 9/11 as a Arab. So, let us see what is different, and what is the same.

I think she wants to tell us by using her own culture because of some examples that I found in the poetry. "It was never too strong for us: make it black, Papa" This is the first sentence in the poetry. As we can see, "Papa" "us" those words means the people who come from the place where she lived in which means she is talking about her own culture. "The coffee was the center of the flower." This one I think she talks about the coffee, because they have a lot of coffee in her hometown. She wants to tell people to remember the beautiful coffee and flower in their hometown.I think when people face to a huge argue that they cannot against with, they will think about their hometown where they born, and there also the place they will die. So, before people think about it, they will miss their hometown so much. Sometime, it would be a thing in their hometown like the coffee in Arab. So, she use the 19 varieties of gazelle. To tell people Arab is a nice country

I think that it shows us Arab people are friendly and brave because 2 examples. First one is that "It was never too strong for us:" as we can see, she think it was never too strong. We can know they are so strong. Because they are stronger than the disaster.I also think that she is encourage people to face to the problems. Another one is that a motion of faith. I can feel that strong emotion in the author's heart. Even though they get so many problems, they never forget their belief. I can feel that strong wish to be the right one. In fact they made it. They passed the hardest time, and they remember that forever. Just like Marjane in the Persepolis. She saw the war and the revolution, and she told this to the whole world as a person who born and lived in Iran. We should learn those power from them. Then we can help each other and save each other. I believe we will win, and all the terrorist cannot hurt us anymore.
To be honest, I lived in China, so I cannot understand 100%, but I can feel it as the same way. Because, people are same. I still could feel that emotion in my heart. We have to see everyone in  the same way, people are good. But government is not always nice. I hope everyone in this world can find their lights of hope to stand up and fight back. To say we do not want to see anyone be hurt any more!

The we should always know: Truth

"One can forgive but one should never forget."---Marjane Satrapi This a sentence on the third page. I think this is the massage she is trying to convey. I think the mean of is that everyone should know the truth, even though it may be a bad crime. She tells us by three ways. The first is that she told all the real stories that we cannot know from the history book. The second one is that she is telling all of this by telling us the people around her. The last one is that she create a character god who is always say the truth.

What part is that we cannot see in the history book? I find two things in the book, that I have never see in the history book. The first one, It is about her grand father. At start her father was the king, but the king was in Iran when Majane was a child, he took the power from her grand father. Another one is that the government in Iran told young and poor boys that if they die in the world with the "gold key", they would go the the heaven. In fact, the gold key was made by plastic and they colored it gold.

The relationship between characters and the role they play are very interesting. For example, Marjane's father is the one who always teach Marjane the truth and protect her. Another instance is that her uncle told her about the politics , however she was a little girl. That tells us whatever you are old or young , male or female you should know the truth.

Last, I want to talk about the god. He is not a true man in the world, so why the author would create a unreal character? I think the character god is the way that author define justice and evil. As we know the character Marjane likes religon so much. So god is always right. Actually, god tells Marjane everything whatever good or bad. He just tells her the truth. This tells us we should never lie to anyone. We tell only the truth.

I can feel how strong Marjane seek the truth, and this is the reason why she write this book. She wants more and more people to know what happened in Iran. She also helps the whole world to tell the truth.

Final draft

Persepolis is a book that was written by Marjane Satrapi. She is a Iranian. This book

tells us about her childhood. She tells us the story about Islamic Revolution, the war

between  Iran and Iraq, and the two government in Iran. I am interested in her father.

He is a very important character in the book. He has a mustache and short hair. He is

brave and kind. He is brave when he fights with the old government. He is friendly when he

takes care of his family. I think that he influenced Marjane to seek the truth, and he also

protected her from the bad things. That made Marjane and her father loved each other

so much. However how and why he would do that to Marjane, and how can we know that?

Marjane wants to know what is real and what is lies, because her father

influenced her a lot. At the start of the book everyone in Iran wanted to take the king

down, but one day, Marjane said that she loved the king, because he was chosen by

god.Her father was wondering why she would think that way. Then Marjane told him

that school told them the King was chosen by god and he was a good person. Then he

told her the truth that the king hurts her grand father a lot then he became the king. I

think when she heard this, she thought that school does not always tell the truth. That made

her feeling of knowing truth stronger and stronger.

Her father protected her so hard. For example, at the end of this book he sends Marjane

to study aboard. Because she always say somethings are not allowed to say that the

government did not want people to know, Marjane’s uncle has seen kids executed in the

street without even having been judged. He wanted Marjane to know more truth, but he

cannot tell her. Because the more secrets she knows the more danger she will get in.

That made he worried her a lot, so he send her to study aboard for her safety. That is a

really hard decision, because no one wants to see their children leave them, and they

cannot see them for a long time.

Her father loved her so much, because of two examples. The first one is that at

the start of the book her teacher told her parents that she said she wants to become a

prophet, but he said it does not matter at all. Another one is that at that time

periodgovernment did not allow anything about Punk showing in the public. But she

liked punk so much. Once her father would go abroad, and she asked her father to buy

some post and jacket about pun for her. He did even though it is illegal. He still found

the way that put the post in the coat and put the badge in the shoe.

To be honest, I want a father like him. He loved his child so much, and protect her from

all the bad things from her. The most important thing is that he taught her we should

know the truth. In the real world, some parents have a lot of business to work with, so

they don’t and cannot take care of their children very well. Some of them may just care

the grade that children get. But, we cannot learn everything in the school, and we

cannot make sure waht we are learning now is all the truth. So, we cannot become a

adult without learning from parents. How can we become a adult?

make sure waht we are learning now is all the truth. So, we cannot become a adult

without learning from parents. How can we become a adult?

Book review

Recently, I am reading a book named Persepolis. This book is written by Marjane Satrapi. She is from Iran. This book tells us her childhood in Iran. This book made curious just like her when she was a children.
At the start she told us the situation before Islamic Revolution. During that time, everyone wanted took the king down. Then they had the revolution. Then the got a new government, and she told us this government was worse than the old one. She saw the whole thing. For example, her uncle told her a lot of truth even though she was a little girl. After that she been in the war between Iran and Iraq. That war was so bloody, a lots of young boys died because of new government. At the end she had to go to study abroad.
My favorite part of this book is that she tells us all truth. In the real life, especially some countries like Iran. Governments don't want everyone knows everything. So they don't allowed people tell the truth. Even in your own country you cannot know all truth in you country. So I am so surprised that she tells us the truth. For example, government in Iran told young boys that if they die in the war, they can go to the heaven, because government give them a plastic key colored gold. That was just like a big slauthter. I cannot believe they did. But it is truth. So, government don't want people to know. But everone deserve to know the truth. I Nieves you will like this book. Even though this is a sad story.
Persepolis is a amazing book. All people in the book just like the real person stand in front of you. All stories in the book will interest you and amaz you. I think we can learn a lot of deep meaning about our life, our countries, and our world. I suggest everone to read this book, if y out have free time.

Persepolis thesis

I like it because of three reasons. First this book tells us the truth. Second is the way that author showed us whole story. Last one is that  the relationship between she and other characters. But, I don't like the ending of this book, and this is a sad story.

Drawing

I the drawing in the book are very important, because of three reasons. This three reasons make the the book is so interesting, and more and more people want to read.
First reason is that drawing makes the book much easier to read. As we know sometimes we cannot understand clearly when the book is very difficult. Especially someone is not native speaker. So, we really need some drawing to help us to understand the main ideas of the book. For example, if we just see the word angry, we cannot understand how and why he or she is angry. But if we can what he or she is doing, that will help us get more specific information.
Second reason is that drawing makes the book more interesting. People who in my age do not like to read things have only words. Because that is so boring. But if we can see some drawing in the book, i believe that we would be happy to read them. For example, If we can see some funny pictures in the book we will smile. That will makes us to keep reading.
Last reason is that we can feel more emotions. Because we can see the emotion by colors, face of the people, and weather in the drawing. For example, in the page 2 all girls looks angry, unhappy, and board. That is the emotion that author had. If we can feel the emotion, then we can know the book deeper. That will helps us to study better.
I like the book with some drawing. If I have a chance I will write a book like this by myself.

Collage!

I like reading because it can help me figure out a lot of problems. I am a slow reader. I like novel most. Because it is very interesting and funny. My favorite book is How To Make Steel. Because of the character. The character name is Pavel. Because he kept writing even his eyes were broken. When I saw that at the first time. I decided that I want to be a person like him. A person never give up. In our life we always get a lot problems but it is not the real problems. The real one is we give up with out even try. I believe every problems will not stop us if we nver give up.

Songs

Fist song is“我的未来不是梦”. This song is about dreams. Dream which word is beautiful and

heard broken. Everyone has a lot of dreams. My first dream is that I want to change china, and I

want to be the president of china. Because when I was a child, I saw a lot problems such as a

lot of people are homeless, a lot of children cannot go school, and a lot of people who work for

government they are not really making China better. But, after I grow up. I realized I cannot do it

by myself, so I decided that I want to learn how to make Chinese education better. I think

education is the hope of a choutry. So I have to work harder and harder. When I listen to this

song , I can feel a power is growing in my heart, and it makes me believe I can do it.

Second song is “敬酒不吃”. I choose this song because this song sings the voice in my heart.

My family is not very rich but it is enough. I like playing with my friend, and I always pay for the

food and KTV. So I had a lot of "friends". Then, I realized they are not really my friends, and they

just want me pay for them. This song tells something in the real world, and they are truth. It is

about a kind of person who is selfish and mean.

Third song is “我的好兄弟”. I like this song because this song talks about "brother". This brothers

arenot real brother. They are my best friends. I have 2 "brothers". One of them we have been

friends for 9 years. Another one we met 3years ago. But we looks like old friends. We trust each

other, help each other, and share everything with each other. They gave me really good time.

I love them.

Sometimes, songs are not only songs. They are the voice in our heart, and we cannot find a

better way to say it but songs. I like music!

Carpe Diem seize the day

I really like and agree with "the bug that irks you, the yellow butterfly that catches your eye, and the furred thing with sharp teeth that repels you---are all in your moment of history." Because everything in our life are special whatever it is good or bad, and this special makes us different. That is why I know who I am. If we have no memories, we won't have goals for our life, and our life have no meaning. It is just like we have never in this world.

What makes our English classes to get better?

First, I think we should finish our homework on time. Second, we should be respectful to every one

in the class. Next, we should also review for our tests and quizzes. Then, I think we may set up a

reward system. Finally, we should have a opening mind.
